Theatre exploring the trickier aspects of relationships with warmth, wit and insight. Suitable for over 16s.

Mixed Doubles is a wryly entertaining scrutiny of domestic relationships. This mosaic of skilled writers’ contributions of playlets, monologues and poetry, illuminates with warmth and humour some of the obstacles we can encounter whilst trying to love another human being. The anthology was performed in the West End – Comedy Theatre in 1969 and is still popular to this day. We perform it here with a Wateryard – Mayfield twist and flare.

The Wateryard Group has for nearly 20 years brought theatre to its local community through a democratic and open commitment to stage thought-provoking drama in venues around Mayfield. A cornerstone of this ethos is to involve both professionals and amateurs in all aspects of the dramatic process.

This latest Wateryard event takes place in Melford House in Mayfield (courtesy of Richard Field) which provides an original and flexible venue as background for the thematic explorations of the play.

In the opinion of the production team the themes of the play make it of interest and relevance to those over 16 years of age.
